Why cause odors during UV printing & How to deal with it?

Published by December 11,2024

UV flatbed printers will produce some odors in actual printing. The worse the ink, the stronger the smell..

There are 4 reasons to cause:

one: LED ultraviolet light curing lamp will produce slight ozone during irradiation, this taste is relatively light, and the amount is small, generally it can not be smelled

two: Substrates made of different materials are affected by the environment, which will crack out related chemicals and produce irritating odors; this taste is relatively light, and the amount is small, and generally cannot be smelled.

three: The UV ink product itself contains a certain odor and some odor will be generated after curing, or it will react chemically with the substrate itself to produce a strange odor.

four: Some users may add some auxiliary materials such as auxiliary agents in the actual printing of UV flatbed printers according to the requirements of their own products, which may remain irritating odors.

How to deal with this smell? We have 3 methods:

1, Replace the UV ink required by the UV machine, use environmentally friendly green ink, no VOC and other chemicals

2,Adding deodorant and other ingredients to UV ink, this needs to be carried out under the guidance of the manufacturer to avoid clogging the nozzle and the ink path

3,UV ink printed patterns need to be placed in a ventilated place for more than 12 hours to remove odors.

It is worth noting that the odor itself will volatilize very quickly and will not stay on the surface of the substrate for a long time. The operator only needs to maintain a distance of more than 2 meters from the printing platform of the UV flatbed machine. Generally, the odor of ink can be avoided. stimulate.
